The 2026 framework sets age and turnover limits of 10 years and ₹200 crore; recognised Deep Tech startups have limits of 20 years and ₹300 crore. Turnover is assessed across financial years since incorporation or registration. Innovation or scalability and other conditions also apply; reconstruction of an existing business does not qualify automatically.
No. The 2026 framework provides a separate Deep Tech category with extended age and turnover limits, subject to its criteria and assessment. Describe and evidence your technology; do not assume eligibility from your sector alone.
No. Recognition does not guarantee funding, tax relief, procurement awards or GST exemption. Section 80-IAC relief requires separate eligibility and approval. Angel tax under section 56(2)(viib) ceased to apply from Assessment Year 2025-26; it is not an ongoing recognition benefit.
